Tom awoke to the sun shining in from the window. He realised that he had forgotten to close the curtains the night before, and so he could see out into the countryside. The sun was slowly rising over a lush landscape of hills, streams and forests. As he walked to the window and pressed his nose to the glass, he could see the villiage of Etherton spread out below him. It was very pretty, with its little thatched cottages and quiant shops.
